In the last two decades, considerable research has happened on child development. There is awareness of conditions like childhood autism and better survival of premature babies with developmental issues, which no one thought of in the past. If parents are unaware, they don’t come to the doctor with these complaints. The worst thing is wait and watch as parents tend to think that developmental issues will be set right at a later stage, but this is not the case in most situations.

Many parents are not aware of neurodevelopmental issues and what to expect at a milestone, because there is no pain and any obvious symptoms. Learning ability in school, behaviour adaptation in the society - all these skills are very important milestones in life and have to be monitored with corrective actions.

I hope that this Newsletter can play a role in helping most of us understand more about child development and make parents more vigilant.
